CLAN HISTORY MAC NORSE
The Curitibana band Clan Mac Norse, emerged in 2011 and presents the song
traditional Nordic regions, Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway and
Sweden) and Finland. The origin of the band's name is very special, with the
junction of two Gaelic and one Scandinavian words: Clan (family),
Mac (son), Norse (Nordic), and was inspired by the ruins of an abbey with
similar name: Clonmacnoise, located in Ireland. The search
started in 2007, by the multi-instrumentalist musician Carlos Simas, with themes
folklore, musical instruments, culture and history.Traditional music from these regions is rare in Brazil, due to the fact that
having few Nordic immigrants compared to other peoples
that contributed to the colonization of our country.The band's typical instruments are: Accordion, bouzouki, various flutes,
jew's harp (ancestor of mouth harmonica), kantele (Baltic psalter),
nyckelharpa (a kind of keyed violin), dulcimer, guitar and violin.The most used rhythms and dances are; Polska, Schottis, Reinlender, Vals,
Polka, Halling, Kadrilj.(Carlos Simas)
